SUBLINGUAL IMMUNOTHERAPY
Sublingual immunotherapy has become more and more popular in the United States, and is often a good method of treating allergies in pediatric patients. Sublingual immunotherapy (SLIT) has been popular in Europe for years.
Like subcutaneous immunotherapy (allergy shots), it uses a serum to desensitize patients to their allergies. However, sublingual immunotherapy does not use shots. Instead, drops are held under the tongue for two minutes and then swallowed.
The advantages of SLIT include:
- It is very safe
- It is more convenient for patients
- It can be done at home
- Is an attractive option for children.
At the Raleigh Capitol Sinus & Allergy Center, our experienced physicians will carefully evaluate your allergy condition with care and compassion. Our physicians are affiliated with Raleigh Capitol Ear, Nose & Throat. For more information, visit the webpage on SLIT at the Raleigh Capitol Ear, Nose & Throat website.
